I received a runner up Boeing Communication Excellence Award in 2013, for helping develop a more simplified and strategic approach for planning the Boeing Technical Excellence Conference (a large, popular internal idea-sharing event for the Boeing’s technical community).

In 2016, completed a Backpack Video Editing Workshop at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, FL, where I learned to shoot, edit and produce video stories.

I serve on the College Success Foundation Alumni Board, where I plan post-graduate professional development events for College Success Foundation alumni of color; and I also serve on the NICU Parent Advisory Committee at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, where I develop programs that promote a positive and nurturing environment for NICU patients and their families.

In 2015, I earned a Certificate for Public Relations & Strategic Communications from the University of Washington which sharpened my ability to plan, execute and evaluate a communications strategy and crisis plans.

From 2011 to 2012, I managed Facebook content for KISS 106.1 FM, and wrote online news articles for KOMOnews.com.

As a staff writer for the Tacoma Weekly newspaper from 2009 to 2011, I wrote articles about local politics, education and arts. I also created the concept for the newspaper’s first blog to boost online presence and increase timely flow of information between weekly publication times. For that effort, I was awarded First Place “Best Blog” from the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association in 2011.

In 2008, I took my first job as a newspaper reporter for the Prosser Record Bulletin, where I launched the newspaper’s first Facebook page and produced early videos for YouTube.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Pacific Lutheran University in 2008, where I traveled to Australia to learn about media, and to England to participate in an international marketing internship at St. Martins-in-the-Fields cathedral. I earned a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University in 2012.

I’m a big fan of books, good conversation and great food. In 2012, I married my husband, Nate. We live in the south Seattle suburbs with our toddler son, Teddy, and our cat, Murrow, named after the famous journalist.
